Talking with Grexsys
Hello folks! Another Tuesday, another article. And, since it’s the first of the month, it’s an Inside the Photo!
My guest today is a talented photographer I met on Vero quite a while ago. He shoots many different genres, and I particularly love his portraits. Let’s start by learning a bit more about him
I am an I.T. professional and professional photographer. I have been shooting for 30+ years. While working in the computer field, I am analytical and detailed; photography allows me to be free and create. Photography feeds my creative side and provides me with balance. I have shot in many genres, including sports, concert, street, editorial, headshot, and creative studio photography. To fully break away from being overly detailed and analytic in the I.T. field, I provide very little instruction to models while photographing subjects. I prefer to capture what I see and tell the story naturally.
Looking at Grexsys’ portrait portfolio, you will see how versatile he is. Soft light, hard light, gels, black and white and many, many different moods to always tell a different story. All with great quality and taste.

Meyah the Dancer – © Grexsys
This shot was taken at an old church converted to a multipurpose facility in Houston, Texas. On the first floor, a startup software company was located. The second floor had big windows that let in natural light that bounced off the wooden floors. The brick walls were painted white, which helped softly reflect light around the room. The third floor had brick walls, stairs to a bell tower, stained glass windows, and a big clock, an area where we also took photos.
When we entered the facility, the model Meyah, a phenomenal up-and-coming dancer and singer, began to stretch. She had recently put on olive oil so her skin glistened. I quickly started taking photos. As I mentioned, I dislike offering suggestions or posing models; I enjoy capturing authentic and natural moments. I was thrilled to see her standing in a perfect spot in the room. Almost centered between the windows and slightly outside the sunlight on the floor. As her body arched perfectly, her hair gently brushed the ground; this was the shot.
Many more shots were taken that day, but this shot set the tone, so I am always fond of it.
I publish all photos under Grexsys.
As always, here are the links where you can dig into Grexsys’ world. And I tell you, it’s absolutely worth it.

Take care and talk soon!
