Inside the Photo #11

Happy Tuesday my friend! Hold on tight because today’s Inside the Photo is going to be great. Well, it always is, isn’t it?

My guest today is an amazing photographer I met on LinkedIn. She’s Noémia Prada.

My name is Noémia Prada.
I am a mother of two amazing children, they are the love of my life.
I am an artist. I write, I paint, I take photos and I also like to be photographed.
I’m a self-taught Painter/Photographer. My academic background is journalism and advertisement.
I am a private person who loves to be at home. I like solitude but not loneliness.
Another passion of mine is music. I need music to create, to remember, to laugh and to cry.
My life has been a bit erratic: for the last 20 years, I have lived in five different countries: Poland, Croatia, Portugal, United States and Angola.
Where did I feel the happiest? In Africa.
I have the identity of an expat. That’s who I am. I don’t get too attached to people or places. Everything is temporary and ephemeral, unfortunately, or not.

Among Noémia’s projects, “The Hands Project” is one of my favourites. There’s always a story behind hands. A story made of work, passion and love as well as despair, tears and fatigue.

This photo of hands is special to me because those hands belong to my father. He is 86 years old and worked in construction, so his hands are very strong and harsh. I love this rawness in the skin, the wrinkles, the strong bone structure.

I believe hands can reveal the character of a person and, to me, those show compassion, honesty, hard work, tenderness and love.

He is my role model,  someone that I admire and respect so much. With this photo, I intended to pay homage to one of the most important persons in my life.

This capture is part of a series called “The Hands Project” and was born after a few years of photography practice.

Photographing hands is like deciphering a silent poetry that speaks loudly about relationships, emotions, and cultural nuances.

I invite you to connect with this unspoken language that resides in the palms of our shared humanity.

I love the tribute she made to her father and also to all the people’s stories she told by just photographing their hands.
I highly invite you all to check out Noémia’s beautiful work by visiting her socials:
